And now, the Gallery

Yes, I know this blog is supposed to be about writing.  However, this sort of thing is supposed to be worth a thousand words, so hum the music from Take Hart as you view it.

First attempt at the e-book cover image.

  1. Woohoo! Are you going to self-publish?

Not sure about the unironed purple fabric. What do the covers of books in your genre look like?

  2. I am thinking of self-publishing, yes. (You do realise this is all your fault? ;-) )

I think the book would be classed as chick-lit by most publishers so the cover art would almost definitely be drawn rather than photographed. The snag is that I can't draw, hence messing about with a piece of upholstery fabric from the bargain bin of an upmarket interiors shop!

I'm going to have to give this more thought...

  3. You could try advertising the job on People Per Hour. You set the price, and tell them exactly what you want, and look at artists' portfolios to see if you like their style.

  4. You could say £150 but you'd prefer it cheaper, and you'd get offers at various prices. With chick lit, the cover is a huge draw, and really important.

Now is a good time to self-publish (well, maybe end of August when the Amazon ebook Summer Sale is over) so get it out there then I can take some of the credit :o)

  5. Thanks Lexi, I'll look into that (although my budget is quite tight). Taking a careful break from the book at the moment so I can come to the final polish with fresh eyes. After that, who knows?
